We said "The Physician's Oath" yesterday: I pledge the following as an expression of the spirit in which I will strive to practice medicine: To promote health and to relieve suffering in both the living and the dying. To approach all my patients with integrity, candor, empathy, and respect. To honor the confidences entrusted to me. To be a student and a teacher always, and to remain conscious of my limitations. To place the welfare of the patients above personal gain, and to protect patients from improper care. To respond always in an emergency. To improve health care for the underserved, and to work to change these conditions in society that threaten the health of the community. To withdraw from active practice when I am no longer capable of fulfilling these pledges. To keep the promise of Hippocrates: "Above all, do no harm." I make these pledges solemnly, freely, and upon my honor.
BIG NEWS! Today's Match Day, and... I'm going to Tufts in Boston for a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology!
SO EXCITED! A. got an offer at a law firm in Boston to work in Tax Law, so we'll FINALLY be in the same city!
I was shocked, honestly, flabbergasted that I matched there. They only take 5 per year... and I was so scared. I ranked them first but tried to be realistic, not get my hopes up.
Then today happened... ... simply amazed and grateful.
we roll dice for our futures: the near-certain that mystery the no-way the gamble the jackpot win

Less than 2 months until I find out where I'll match for the next few years. I'm trying to be clear-eyed and strong while watching the horizon. The winds are blowing, and March 19th I'll know what direction I'll be headed.
Poetry was never my strong suit, but occasionally I like writing sentences with no punctuation and semi-shapes. Forgive me. I'm taking a weekly Law/Medicine/Literature course at SMU that has law and medical students, and we discuss literature/ethics/experiences related to these professions. I have missed having classes like this one, and I feel privileged to be with these other students and professors who desire this type of discussion.
